β-Arbutin

A glycosylated hydroquinone used to study melatonin biosynthesis and as an inhibitor to identify, distinguish and identify tyrosinase. Arbutin is a glycosyl chemicalbook hydroquinone extracted from bear fruit plants. Arbutin is a known tyrosinase inhibitor, which in turn prevents the formation of melanin. Arbutin is often used as a whitening agent in cosmetics.
